At SentenceBuilders we understand the importance of privacy and the protection of our users' data. For this reason, we have taken the appropriate measures to protect any personal information that may be collected from our users.

WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT ABOUT YOU AND HOW?

SentenceBuilders is bound by the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).

You agree that we are entitled to obtain, use and process the information you provide to us to enable us to discharge the Service as described in our Terms and Conditions.

Cookies

SentenceBuilders stores small files known as cookies on your device. These fall into three categories: (i) non essential cookies which allow us to notify you of new features periodically or to provide you with help and tutorials; (ii) Google analytics cookies which allow us to track usage of SentenceBuilders resources and give us an idea of how many people are using SentenceBuilders and which resources they are accessing; (iii) our own cookies which are essential to the proper running of the site.

You may disable cookies on SentenceBuilders, but if you do so, some aspects of the SentenceBuilders website will not work as expected.

Analytics (how visitors use our website)

We use Google Analytics to store information about how visitors use our website so that we may make improvements and give visitors a better user experience.

Google Analytics is a third-party information storage system that records information about the pages you visit, the length of time you were on specific pages and the website in general, how you arrived at the site and what you clicked on when you were there. These cookies do not store any personal information about you, e.g. name, address etc. and we do not share the data. You can view their privacy policy here.

IP addresses

An IP or Internet Protocol Address is a unique numerical address assigned to a computer as it logs on to the internet. SentenceBuilders does not log your IP address when you visit our site, but Google Analytics uses IP information to track how many visitors we have from particular regions, in line with its own privacy policies.

Advertising

There is no third-party advertising on SentenceBuilders.

HOW DO WE USE YOUR DATA AND WHY?

SentenceBuilders stores the following personal information as required to set up a paid subscription: Teacher first name & last name; Teacher email address; Teacher password; School name (optional); School location (optional); Country. The password is stored in a securely encrypted form and our employees do not have access to it.

Username (email address) and Password data is required to keep your user profile active on our platform, allowing you to interact with and use the different tools that we put at your disposal as a subscriber. Email addresses are required for the verification of some user actions, such as resetting passwords etc.

Email addresses are also used to contact you via email, to provide help (if we see an issue with your resources), to inform you of new features which may be of interest to you, and to advise you of the imminent expiry or renewal of your subscription.

If you have completed a contact form in order to send us comments, suggestions or proposals, this data will be used only to respond to your request.

Resources that you upload to SentenceBuilders as Public resources may be accessed and re-used by other SentenceBuilders users, according to our terms and conditions. You should therefore ensure that your resources do not contain any sensitive or personal information, or anything which breaches copyright.

Student accounts are set up by their teachers or by their school admins and are NOT based on email addresses. (No student interaction with SentenceBuilders requires the use of an email address). Student usernames are automatically generated by our system based on the names entered by their teachers when they set up their accounts. These names used need NOT be actual student names, but it goes without saying that the names used need to be recognizable by their teacher, at the very least. Student tracking data relates only to activity or competition points scores and the completion of assignments.

We do not share any of the data that we have collected about you with any third parties. (Unless explicitly required to do so by law.)

SECURITY PRECAUTIONS

All transactions are processed through a gateway provider (Stripe) and are not stored or processed on our servers. We keep no data whatsoever related to payment.

All data that we keep is stored on secure servers located in London under specific security measures that aim to prevent unauthorized access or leakage of information. Data is only accessible by a limited number of persons who have special access rights to such systems and who are required to keep the information confidential.

SentenceBuilders uses a secure, encrypted (https) connection. (When you are on a secure page or site, such as SentenceBuilders, this is indicated by a lock icon in many browsers.)

Where we have given (or where you have chosen) a password which enables you to access certain parts of SentenceBuilders, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not to share your password with anyone.

Any personal data we collect will be treated confidentially. Furthermore, a risk analysis and an impact evaluation have been carried out to ensure that we protect the information of our users in order to prevent their access, manipulation or improper disposal.

PROFILING

We do not collect or use any data for the purpose of creating a profile of you as a user.

HOW LONG DO WE HOLD YOUR DATA FOR?

The data provided by users when registering with SentenceBuilders, as well as all Teacher-generated resources, class data, student lists, etc. are stored on our systems indefinitely. Teachers can delete their own resources and their class lists. You may ask for all of your data to be deleted by sending a request by email.

ACCESS TO YOUR DATA: CORRECTION, DELETION, ETC.

By using SentenceBuilders you implicitly give consent for us to store the data detailed in this policy in order for us to provide our Service (as described in our Terms & conditions). You can withdraw your consent at any time or request the deletion of all data stored about you by contacting us by email. If you request the deletion of all data, we will proceed to delete your profile and delete all your personal data. (If you make this request and you still have a valid subscription, this action will cause your subscription to end.)

Teachers may delete much of the information stored about them (resources, class lists, etc.) for themselves as part of our Service.

You may ask for all of your data to be deleted by sending a request by email. Please contact our Data Protection Officer (Martin Lapworth) at the e-mail address: sentencebuilders@gmail.com

OTHER WEBSITES

SentenceBuilders sometimes contains links to other websites. This privacy policy only applies to the SentenceBuilders website, so when you link to other websites you should read their own privacy policies.

USE OF MINORS' DATA

Our subscription services are aimed at teachers / schools who wish to access our SB Premium resources or create their own resources for their students. As such, we do not envisage anyone under 16 years of age paying for SentenceBuilders subscriptions. In addition to name data (which need not be actual student names), student data relates only to activity or competition points scores and the completion of assignments.

COMPLAINTS

If you feel that your personal data has been processed in a way that does not meet the GDPR, you have a specific right to lodge a complaint with the relevant supervisory authority. The supervisory authority will then tell you of the progress and outcome of your complaint.
